The Hilltop Pet Resort Team
At Hilltop we are proud of our facilities and comfortable surroundings, however we know that the individuals that make up our team are what sets us apart.
It is important to us that we have a mature, responsible and caring group of folks to care for our guests. The average age of our associates is "thirty-something." The average time on payroll for our team is 4 and a half years! Our current, core group has a combined 61 years of service at Hilltop! Our manager, Amanda Foster has been with Hilltop for more than ten years. We know our clients and their pets, and the pets know us. This translates to a great boarding experience for our guests.
More than half of our associates hold college degrees in various disciplines. Other associates have years of experience serving pets prior to coming to Hilltop. Our team have earned degrees in and/or trained in diverse areas such as Veterinary Medical Technology, Sports Management, Culinary Arts, Photography, Biology, and Electrical Engineering. What brings us together is a passion for animals and a dedication to providing the best possible boarding experience for our guests and excellent service to our clients.

After boarding their family pets at Hilltop for three years, Robin and Doug Smith acquired the business, a residence and surrounding acreage in 1998. Robin came from a dairy farming heritage and was a Certified Veterinary Technician for many years after earning her Veterinary Medical Technology degree from Wilson College in 1985. It was Robin's passion and motivation that became and remains the driving force behind Hilltop's success. In the early days, Robin was Hilltop as there was just a single part time employee to assist. Doug enjoyed a productive career with a communications technology concern before leaving the corporate world in 2004. It was this year that Hilltop expanded into a second building adjacent to the original. Robin and Doug continue to be involved in daily operations and enjoy building relationships with Hilltop clients and pet guests.
The couple have been happily married for more than 26 years. They have three incredible daughters. The two youngest are attending Mt. Juliet schools and have called Hilltop home their entire lives. The eldest is a graduate of the MJHS Class of 2013 and is currently studying at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
